The Oklahoma Sooners get the automatic bid to the NCAA softball tournament by virtue of their regular-season SEC title after rain washed out the tourney finale against Texas A&M.

OU fell behind 6-1 to Arkansas in the third inning of last Friday’s SEC tournament semifinal, got to within 6-5 by the sixth, then won 8-6 on Garcia’s walk-off three-run homer. It was the biggest comeback in SEC tourney history. The next day’s championship game against Texas A&M was rained out and the teams were named co-champions.

The University of Oklahoma women’s softball team advanced to the SEC Title Game Friday afternoon after besting Arkansas.

Oklahoma coach Patty Gasso was named the SEC's Coach of the Year, while pitcher Sam Landry earned the Newcomer of the Year award.

Other top-seeded teams in the 2025 NCAA softball tournament outside the SEC include No. 5 seed Florida State, No. 9 seed UCLA, No. 11 seed Clemson, No. 13 seed Arizona State, No. 14 seed Duke and No. 16 seed Oregon.
