New Mexico health officials are urging parents to take precautions as the state confirms another case in a growing measles outbreak.

New Mexico health officials have not linked the outbreak there to the Texas cases. The person is the 10th in Lea County to have a confirmed measles infection. Seven were unvaccinated.

The measles outbreak in rural West Texas has grown to 58 cases as of Tuesday, and eight people in neighboring eastern New Mexico also have been diagnosed with measles.

Measles outbreaks in West Texas and New Mexico now have nearly 300 cases in total. Two unvaccinated people have died from measles-related causes.
