Oakland police exchanged gunfire with a suspect who had been making threats and pointing a gun at residents in an East Oakland neighborhood. The suspect fled on foot through backyards before being apprehended.

OAKLAND – Officers exchanged gunfire with an armed man Monday afternoon in Oakland, police said. Around 4 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of 92nd Avenue for a report of a man pointing a firearm at people in the area, according to the Oakland Police Department.

The Oakland Police Department have now confirmed their officers exchanged gunfire with a suspect who was allegedly making threats with a handgun on Monday afternoon.
