Russian drone strikes on Ukraine have hit an all-time high, an AFP analysis showed Friday, as Kyiv held a day of mourning after one of the deadliest attacks on the capital left 31 dead. The large-scale aerial assault during the early hours of July 31 capped a month that saw Russia launch more drones at Ukraine than in any month since it launched its 2022 invasion.

Ukraine's Air Force said Russian forces launched 309 Shahed-type attack drones and decoy drones, along with eight Iskander-K cruise missiles, in an overnight assault.

Across eastern Ukraine, Russia’s tiny gains are adding up. It is capitalizing on a series of small advances and throwing significant resources into an emerging summer offensive, one that risks reshaping control over the front lines.
