Trump's move to send the California National Guard to Los Angeles has sharply escalated tensions between the government and the Golden State.

Protests against Trump's immigration crackdown erupted nationwide over the weekend, with Los Angeles at the epicenter of the unrest.

California leaders said yesterday that they would file a lawsuit against President Trump for deploying National Guard troops to Los Angeles as part of a crackdown on immigration. The lawsuit will argue that Trump’s order to the National Guard was illegal because he bypassed the governor of California, Gavin Newsom.

District Judge Jacqueline Corley ruled California should have sued in the Court of International Trade, which has jurisdiction over tariff disputes.
