DPA International on MSNZverev into Stuttgart semis, Auger-Aliassime stops teenager EngelTop seed Alexander Zverev reached the Stuttgart Open semi-finals on Friday, and so did Felix Auger-Aliassime by stopping German teenager Justin Engel. Zverev defeated American Brandon Nakashima 7-5, 6-4 in one and a half hours.
The incident comes just two days after Moutet and Fabio Fognini's frosty handshake following their fiery clash on Tuesday. The Frenchman came away with a three-set win in a match that included a smashed racket and a verbal exchange between the pair at the net after the contest finished.
This win marked Zverev’s first appearance in a grass-court final in eight years. The last time he accomplished that was at the ATP 500 event in Halle in 2017, where he lost the championship match to Roger Federer. The year before, the German star also reached the final there but was defeated by Florian Mayer.
