VAL VERDE (CNS) - Firefighters made substantial inroads, gaining control of the 5,370-acre Canyon Fire with containment growing overnight from 47% to 62%.

Evacuation warnings were lifted in Los Angeles County Saturday morning for the 5,370-acre Canyon Fire straddling the Los Angeles- Ventura county line near Val Verde west of Castaic, authorities said.
