The Canyon Fire, which has torched about 5,370 acres around the border between Ventura and Los Angeles counties, is close to complete containment after firefighters made significant progress on the blaze overnight, according to authorities.

Canyon Fire initially started today at 1:25 p.m. in Los Angeles, Ventura County, California. After being active for eight hours, it has burned 4,856.3 acres. 250 firefighters have been assigned to respond to the blaze, however, by Thursday evening, the fire remains uncontained and keeps burning. However, investigations into the cause are ongoing.
