After The Marvels and Deadpool & Wolverine laid the groundwork for more Fox X-Men to return, Avengers: Doomsday is going all in by bringing back several non-Wolverine (or Professor X) characters from the original films. Among them is James Marsden, who played Cyclops in that initial trilogy and didn’t really get to do much in them.

When it comes to Marvel’s highly anticipated 2026 film, Avengers: Doomsday, there was no shortage of surprises about the initial casting release. The livestream, which ran for roughly 5-6 hours, highlighted a portion of names who’d return,

Marsden first portrayed Cyclops, a.k.a. Scott Summers, the leader of the X-Men team from Marvel comics who's capable of firing optic blasts, in 2000's X-Men. He reprised the role in the sequels X2: X-Men United (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), the latter of which killed off him off.
