In the blur of one of the most eventful trade deadlines in MLB history, one of the most beloved Kansas City Royals was moved to address a glaring hole on the team.

According to ESPN MLB Insider Jeff Passan, the Royals are sending catcher Freddy Fermin to the San Diego Padres in exchange for two right-handed starting pitchers: Ryan Bergert and Stephen Kolek.

After the Fermin trade was announced, the Royals shared a "Thank you Freddy" post on social media.
