Bankrupt U.S. pharmacy chain Rite Aid on Thursday said it agreed to sell pharmacy assets from more than 1,000 store locations in separate transactions to CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Albertsons, Kroger and Giant Eagle,

The corporation also agreed to acquire the prescription files of 625 Rite Aid pharmacies across 15 states in areas that CVS serves, a spokeswoman said.

Rite Aid filed for its second bankruptcy in two years, this time bowing to the fact that it would have to permanently shutter all 1,245 of its remaining pharmacies. Now that the dust has somewhat settled,
