Alon Aboutboul, an acclaimed Israeli actor known for roles in The Dark Knight Rises and Rambo III, has died at the age of 60. Israeli media reports that he passed unexpectedly on HaBonim Beach near Tel Aviv.

Aboutboul portrayed Russian nuclear physicist Dr. Leonid Pavel in 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” the third and final film in Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” trilogy. Dr. Pavel is kidnapped by Bane (Tom Hardy) in the movie, which made over $1 billion at the box office.

Israeli actor Alon Aboutboul, known in the U.S. for his roles on the FX series Snowfall and the movies Rambo III, Munich and The Dark Knight Rises, has died. He was 60. Aboutboul died after collapsing on HaBonim Beach near Tel Aviv on Tuesday morning, his manager Mark Teitelbaum told The Hollywood Reporter .
