Incumbents on the Waco and Midway ISD school boards may have won a pass to new terms as election filings closed Friday with no challengers to their seats.
Waco will have just one contested city council race in the May 3 election, and Alice Rodriguez, the city's longest-serving council member, will not seek another term.
There were only so many chair positions to go around, with 30 committees for 88 Republicans, making it inevitable that some would miss out on plum appointments.
