The military base had been renamed Fort Liberty as part of an effort to rechristen bases named for Confederate officers.
The army base was earlier named after Braxton Bragg, a Confederate general. The Pentagon said the name will now honor Roland L. Bragg, a soldier who was decorated for his service during World War II.
Hegseth said "Fort Bragg is back," in a post seemingly implying the name still honors the Confederate general after which it was originally named.
