Veteran forward Kyle Connor scored three goals in a span of just 6:38 in the first period, the left-winger's sixth career hat trick, sparking the first-place Winnipeg Jets to a 6-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday at the Canada Life Centre.

WINNIPEG -- Kyle Connor scored a natural hat trick in a 6:38 span in the first period, and the Winnipeg Jets cruised to a 6-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday.

The Canucks started this game with a couple big giveaways early on. The first came from JT Miller, and the second (and far more egregious one) came from Kevin Lankinen.

The Winnipeg Jets continued their season long homestand on Tuesday night at the Canada Life Centre and absolutely crushed the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 6-1. Connor Hellebuyck picked up his league leading 27th win of the year on a cold winter night in Winnipeg.

Lankinen will be between the road pipes in Tuesday's road matchup versus the Jets, according to Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press. Lankinen earned his fourth shutout of the campaign Saturday in a 3-0 victory over Toronto.

Lankinen gave up six goals on 33 shots in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Jets.

After breaking a four-game losing streak with a 3-0 shutout over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks rolled into Winnipeg to face the league-leading Jets, who were coming off a 3-0 shutout of their own against the Colorado Avalanche.

And after being special for most of the season, Kevin Lankinen was less than ordinary. And so were most of his teammates and especially Vancouver’s top players.
