The United States Geological Survey is reporting that a magnitude 6.2 earthquake has struck a region in southwestern Mexico.

The tremor was about five miles from Coalcoman de Vazquez Pallares, a municipality of around 20,000 people about 372 miles west of Mexico City.

MEXICO CITY — A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck a region in southwestern Mexico early Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, causing no serious damage or casualties. It said the quake was centered 13 miles southeast of Aquila near the boundary of Colima and Michoacán states at a depth of 21 miles.
