Bitter cold temperatures are expected Monday and Tuesday as an area of arctic high presser settles across the region, according to the National Weather Service and Bartholomew County Emergency Management.
Bartholomew County Emergency Management says the National Weather Service is predicting dry and milder temperatures today through Friday, followed by a rain-snow mix on Friday night. Rain will mix with and change to snow before ending late day Saturday according to the National Weather Service with little to no accumulation expected.
Tuesday: Snow is likely, mainly between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. There will be increasing clouds with a high near 22. Wind chill values will be as low as zero. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
The National Weather Service has issued extreme cold watches for parts of central and southern Indiana, as well as parts of Kentucky and Ohio, noting temperatures dropping as low as 10 degrees below zero and windchills dropping as low as 25 degrees below zero.
