FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The Maryland men’s lacrosse team produced another stout defensive performance in the NCAA tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon. Throw in some scoring fireworks, and the result was a 14-8 victory over No. 6 seed Syracuse at Gillette Stadium that sent the second-seeded Terrapins back to the national title game.

Maryland improved to 9-2 in the NCAA semifinals under John Tillman and can clinch its fifth national championship against No. 1 Cornell.

The semifinal matchup went exactly as the Terps wanted it to, sending the Orange home one step short of Memorial Day.
