Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said the location of eight persons trapped inside the partially collapsed tunnel of the SLBC project is not known yet exactly and that the government is making efforts to expedite the rescue operation.

The exact whereabouts of the eight persons trapped under the debris, about 14 km inside the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel, is not known precisely even to the rescue agencies due to the very high thick sheet of over 5-metre-deep mud and it would be taking another 2 or 3 days to locate them, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visited the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel site to assess the ongoing rescue operation, as efforts to save eight workers trapped inside continue for the ninth day.

Eight persons--engineers and labourers have been trapped under the collapsed roof of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel since February 22 and the rescue operations are on in full swing to pull them out to safety.

All eight workers missing since the collapse in the Srisailam left bank canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool last Saturday are now presumed to be no longer alive.

Rescue operations are ongoing in Nagarkurnool after a tunnel collapsed on February 22, trapping eight workers. Efforts to rescue them have been intensified, with a total of 200 personnel set to be deployed at the site.
