UPDATE: Power restored for over 2,000 customers affected by local power outage
The city of Columbia is reporting a restoration of all power outages around the Garth and Worley area that affected 2,178 customers, according to the city of Columbia website. One incident was reported near the Columbia Municipal Power Plant that started around 5:40 p.m. on Friday.

Tracy Vreeland, a spokesperson for the utility company, said a car hit a pole near the airport, causing a transmission outage impacting customers in the Surfside Beach and Socastee areas. The number of customers impacted was once as high as 26,970. But in an update, Santee Cooper announced that the outage was restored around 8:40 a.m.
