The Philippines has agreed to a trade deal with the United States that will lower U.S. tariffs on its exports to 19 percent, President Trump announced Tuesday following a meeting with the Philippine president,

The two leaders are expected to speak about trade, tariffs included, and the security partnership between the two nations that was signed back in 1951.

President Donald Trump announced a trade deal July 22 with the Philippines, hours after the leader of the country paid a visit to the Oval Office ahead of an Aug. 1 reciprocal tariffs deadline. The Southeast Asian country would pay a 19% tariff, Trump said.
