In his latest Fact Files column for the Daily Briefing, German football insider Christian Falk has charted the sequence of events which ultimately led to Liverpool agreeing a move for Ekitike.
Liverpool have agreed a £79 million deal with Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike and plan for him to join their pre-season tour of Asia.
Liverpool famously vetoed the £53m signing of Nabil Fekir from Lyon back in June 2018 after becoming aware of a knee issue, once the Frenchman had carried out his medical. Therefore, if something similar occurs during Ekitike’s medical check, those at Anfield could well send him back to Frankfurt.
