Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has said Johnny Herbert’s departure from his role as a rotating FIA steward is “absolutely the right decision”, and that it had “absolutely nothing to do” with Max Verstappen.

The FIA announced this week that Johnny Herbert will no longer serve as a Formula 1 steward amid a conflict of interest between that role and the Brit's media work

At the end of last season, F1 drivers called on the FIA to try to ensure there was greater consistency in stewarding decisions and the awarding of penalties, with Mercedes driver George Russell being particularly vocal on the need for permanent stewards instead of the existing rotating, volunteer system.
