Israel is reporting one of its deadliest days in Gaza in months as its military says seven soldiers have been killed in a bomb attack.

Health officials at Nasser Hospital, where victims of the Israeli strikes were taken, said one strike targeted tents sheltering displaced people in Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Israel's military had no immediate comment on the strikes,

Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin, the chief spokesman of the military, identified the five soldiers who were killed and said they were carrying out an attack on a Hamas brigade in the northern town of Beit Hanoun intended to take out the armed group’s positions above and below ground.
