The Boston Red Sox got an unfortunate update on potentially acquiring a new first baseman, with teams either asking for too much in return or not being ready to part with players this early in the season.

The Boston Red Sox are going to give rookie Kristian Campbell a try at first base. Campbell worked out at first ahead of Friday night's game against the Atlanta Braves at Fenway Park. Campbell entered the season as one of baseball's top prospects and was named Boston's starting second baseman after an impressive spring.

With Kristian Campbell potentially moving to first base, the Boston Red Sox could call up Marcelo Mayer to take his place at second base.
