State health officials Friday confirmed the first human death from West Nile virus in Colorado this year. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said a Lafayette resident has died from the virus.

A Fort Collins resident is confirmed to be Larimer County’s first case of West Nile virus this year and the third human case reported in Colorado.
