Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel gave a two-word response for why Stefon Diggs didn't play in Friday's preseason opener.

With Stefon Diggs just 10 months removed from his ACL injury, it was not really a surprise the 31-year-old receiver didn't play for the Patriots in the team's preseason opener Friday night. But an extremely cryptic answer from head coach Mike Vrabel suggests Diggs' absence against the Washington Commanders was not only a health-related decision.

This offseason, the Patriots third-round pick has paid close attention to how the veteran receiver approaches the game. He also listens closely. Williams revealed that Diggs is often talking to his receiver group and giving them pieces of advice – or as the rookie calls it, “gems.”
