North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw a test of short-range ballistic missiles and long-range artillery in a demonstration of Pyongyang's nuclear counterstrike capabilities, state-run media said Friday.

Multiple short-range ballistic missiles were fired by North Korea from an area around its eastern port city of Wonsan, South Korean military officials said.

North Korea says it has tested the missile systems of its newly unveiled "Choe Hyon-class" warship, with leader Kim Jong Un declaring a need to accelerate nuclear armament at sea.
