Carlos Verona claimed his first Grand Tour stage win when the Lidl-Trek rider rode solo to victory on Sunday's mountainous stage 15 of the Giro d'Italia while Isaac Del Toro retained his overall lead heading into the final week.

Mexican rider Isaac Del Toro closed down attack after attack on the two climbs of the 15th stage of the Giro d'Italia and maintained his lead of 1 minute, 20 seconds over Simon Yates.

The Giro d’Italia is set up for dynamite in the Dolomites. Prodigious youngster Isaac del Toro, 21, is still in pink, he has a teammate chasing desperately, and there are a cabal of contenders in sight of the race lead.
