CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The first named storm in the Pacific Basin formed on Thursday morning. Tropical Storm Alvin will move north, likely weakening as it approaches the Gulf of California.
Alvin's moisture will enhance rainfall in the Southwest U.S. this weekend then increase the chances of severe weather in the Plains.
