First Steps is coming in lighter than projections in its first box office weekend with $117.6 million. Still records were broken.
Both Marvel Studios and DC Studios released major films in their respective franchises this month, and now that both opening weekends have passed, Superman stands as the winner — though not by much. In its first weekend out,
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” grossed $118 million at the domestic box office over the weekend—largely meeting earlier projections, but still placing it behind “Superman” for the biggest superhero film opening of 2025 so far.
Ralph Ineson, whose gigantic stature and booming voice can be found in Fantastic Four this week, co-starred alongside Nicholas Hoult, aka Superman's Lex Luther, in last year's Robert Eggers-directed Nosferatu remake. And now, the pair have bonded further, as each currently serve as the main antagonist in this year's comic book movie tentpoles.
