Sean Burke allowed one run in six innings Friday to help the Chicago White Sox beat the Texas Rangers 4-1, snapping an 11-game skid in the series.
Vaughn was batting only .189, while Elko had only five hits in his first 32 plate appearances as a major-leaguer. The Sox won their first game without the two — a 4-1 victory over the Rangers on Friday night at Rate Field.
The White Sox provided Burke with run support in the third inning. It began with singles by Lenyn Sosa and Josh Rojas, and a Mike Tauchman walk loaded the bases. The first run scored on a Miguel Vargas walk, while Andrew Benintendi and Luis Robert Jr. drove in runs with a sacrifice fly and a single, respectively.
Andrew Vaughn, a mainstay in the Chicago White Sox lineup since 2021, was sent to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday along with Tim Elko.
