APEC leaders kick off Lima summit as Trump prepares to return to office
Leaders of Pacific Rim countries including the U.S. and China gathered Friday in Peru for an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting, the first major global summit since U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s election victory.

During a one-on-one meeting with Peru’s President Dina Boluarte, Biden thanked her for the country’s efforts to counter drug trafficking and noted the $65 million the U.S. is giving Peru over the next five years intended to assist in that effort.
