A Goldman Sachs alum with the experience of running two different central banks, Mark Carney is facing off against Pierre Polievre from the Conservative Party in a race that is rife with U.S. President Donald Trump's trade tariffs and push for Canada's statehood.

Mark Carney, former governor of the Bank of England and Bank of Canada, is Canada's incumbent prime minister. After his swearing-in last month, he called a snap election. He is facing off against Pierre Poilievre's Conservative Party.

The Conservative Party chipped away at the lead held by Mark Carney’s Liberals in the final days of Canada’s election campaign, though surveys still point to a probable Liberal victory in Monday’s vote.
