The newly launched rail connectivity to Kashmir is being celebrated for its potential to boost tourism and trade, streamlining transport and energizing the local economy. However, traders in Jammu are concerned about potential business losses due to travelers bypassing their region.

Beyond its impact on tourism, the new rail link is expected to energise the local economy. Kashmir’s apple, walnut, almond, and saffron producers hope the improved connectivity will eliminate logistical bottlenecks, reduce spoilage, and attract greater investment.

Remarkably standing high, 359 metres above the river, the Chenab Bridge is 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower and is now the highest railway bridge in the world.
