The Holy See Press has announced that the funeral of Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, will be held and broadcast on Saturday, April 26 beginning at 4 a.m. Eastern time (10 a.m. local time) from St. Peter’s Square. Several U.S. news outlets, including ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN will televise the funeral, beginning at 3:30 a.m. Eastern.

Saturday’s funeral will kick off the traditional Novendiales, nine consecutive days of mourning for the suffrage of the late pope. He will be buried at the Basilica of St. Mary Major.

At least 200,000 people are expected to attend Pope Francis’s funeral on Saturday, joining at least 50 heads of states, including U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron;
