The Dallas Mavericks got a much-needed shot in the arm to kick off the offseason, landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. As things stand, the Mavericks are slated to select former Duke star Cooper Flagg at the top of the draft, adding a potential diamond to a roster that already includes Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis.

Penberthy is a former player who mostly played overseas, but he won another championship with the Lakers in the 2000-2001 season, his lone year in the NBA. He's been a shooting coach and pro scout for the Denver Nuggets since 2022, winning another championship with the franchise in 2023.

However, for the Mavericks to move on from somebody like Dereck Lively in this trade, they'd have to get back Reaves. Moving Lively to the Lakers, despite Los Angeles needing a center more than nearly every other team in the NBA, wouldn’t make much sense if Reaves isn't involved in the deal.
