Three people have been arrested for allegedly stealing nearly $700 worth of copper wire cables in Fort Worth, police said.

Three people were recently arrested in connection with the theft of over 150 pounds of copper wire, according to a news release from Fort Worth police. Officers responded to a suspicious person call in the 2900 block of Shamrock Avenuve on Jan. 20, where it was reported that three people appeared to remove copper cable from a building.

The Fort Worth Police Department has made a tiny dent in the copper theft world, putting three suspects behind bars for their involvement in copper cable theft. According to a release, the thieves were even caught in the act.

When Fort Worth City Council member Gyna Bivens started receiving complaints from residents about extended cable outages in their neighborhoods, she knew she could get answers.
