Alfred Collins isn't your typical 49ers defensive tackle. Collins is built to defend the run. He's big and extremely difficult to move.

Collins, at 332 pounds, is the heaviest defensive tackle drafted since 2017 under general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan, the latter of whom is also a Texas product. Collins played five seasons at Texas, accruing 7 1/2 sacks and 142 tackles.

After drafting Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams in the first round, the San Francisco 49ers doubled down on rebuilding their defensive front by selecting Texas Longhorns defensive tackle Alfred Collins with the 43rd overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
