Palestinian Health Ministry urges safe passage of convoy carrying life-saving materials, no food items included

The U.N. human rights office says more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since May while trying to get food in the Gaza Strip.

Razan was one of at least four children to succumb in the last three days, the youngest just three months. Over the past 24 hours, 18 deaths have been recorded due to famine in Gaza, the health ministry says, reflecting a deepening crisis in the territory.

For months, U.N. officials, aid groups and experts have warned that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are on the brink of famine without formally declaring one.
